SUNNYVALE, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Azul Systems (Azul) the award-winning leader in Java runtime solutions, today announced that it has been re-elected to serve on the Java Community Process (JCP) Executive Committee (EC) for a 2-year term. Gil Tene, Azul co-founder and CTO, will continue to serve as Azul’s primary representative. Azul joins other elected members including the Eclipse Foundation, the London Java Community, Twitter, Tomitribe, and Hazelcast. Complete results were published November 15th on the JCP website at https://jcp.org/aboutJava/communityprocess/elections/2016.html.
Established in 1998, the JCP is an open process that fosters the evolution of the Java platform in cooperation with the global Java community. The JCP is the mechanism for developing standard technical specifications for Java technology. Anyone can register for the site and participate in reviewing and providing feedback for the Java Specification Requests (JSRs). A long-time member of the Java community, Azul has been a member of the JCP EC since 2011.
“We are honored and thankful to have been re-elected by Java Community members to serve on the JCP Executive Committee for an additional term,” said Azul Systems CTO Gil Tene. “Since first being elected to the JCP Executive Committee in 2011, Azul has taken strong positions on protecting community rights, access to technology, and the role of individual Java developers and JCP members, and we have specifically taken the position that the Java community process should be largely influenced by the developers that consume and use the technology standards produced. We look forward to working with the other members of the EC to evolve Java and continue to ensure broad community participation and rights.”
