Azul Systems (Azul) today announced its Silver-level sponsorship of the Cloud Foundry Foundation(CFF), an independent nonprofit organization formed to sustain the development, promotion and adoption of Cloud Foundry as the global industry standard for open Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS).
Cloud Foundry is the leading PaaS open source project and is backed by founding companies that include Platinum Sponsors EMC, HP, IBM, Intel, Pivotal, SAP, and VMware. It is an open PaaS, providing developers with a choice of clouds, frameworks and application services to support continuous innovation and high velocity agile development.
Azul, the award-winning leader in Java runtime solutions, will be providing open source expertise and guidance on best practices for sourcing and implementing Java runtimes for Cloud Foundry deployments. Azul has the domain expertise and product lifecycle management skills to help enterprises accelerate their adoption of open source Java while avoiding the pitfalls of questionable quality, version control, and security patch levels of randomly-sourced binary builds of OpenJDK. Azul is also a member of the Java Community Process Executive Committee, helping to guide the future direction of Java in cooperation with the international developer community.
“An enterprise-class Java runtime is a key component of any successful Cloud Foundry deployment, and Azul has the domain expertise and tools to help CFF members and their customers implement OpenJDK for enterprise use,” said Scott Sellers, Azul Systems President and CEO. “Azul certifies every Zulu OpenJDK release, putting our stamp of approval that the required compliance and additional rigorous testing has been performed, giving users the confidence they need to use and deploy OpenJDK broadly.”
Certified builds of Zulu, Azul’s build of OpenJDK, are available as free downloads from the Azul website (www.azul.com/products/zulu), and Azul’s repositories (apt-get Zulu).
