Don’t miss Azul Deputy CTO Simon Ritter’s session, 30 Years of Java. Here is the abstract:

30 Years of Java

May 23, 1995 saw the launch of not just a new programming language but an entire development and deployment platform. Initially targeted at the brand-new world of browsers and the world wide web, it quickly became the de facto standard for internet-scale enterprise applications. Remarkably, 30 years later, it is still always in the top three most popular languages in use by developers. To open our celebration, we’ll take a trip back in time to see how Java came about, how it flourished, and how it’s changed over three decades. We may even have a special guest with some key insights.

Meet Azul Deputy CTO Simon Ritter

Simon Ritter might have equal parts blood and Java running through his veins. He joined Sun Microsystems in 1996 and spent time working in both Java development and consultancy. He has been presenting Java technologies to developers since 1999, focusing on the core Java platform as well as client and embedded applications. As deputy CTO at Azul, he continues to help people understand Java and Azul’s JVM products.

Simon is a Java Champion and two-time recipient of the JavaOne Rockstar award. In addition, he represents Azul on the JCP Executive Committee, the OpenJDK Vulnerability Group, and as the JSR Expert Group since Java SE 9.

An impressive lineup of presenters

An all-star panel of influential leaders in Java development will be on hand to lead sessions, interact with attendees, and answer questions. This is a rare opportunity to have access to such an impressive list of Java luminaries.
