Creditex Turns to Azul Systems® for Breakthrough Performance

Mountain View, Calif. – September 16, 2008 – Azul Systems today announced that Creditex, the global market leader and innovator in execution and processing of credit derivatives, has deployed Azul Compute Appliances to cost-effectively scale and improve performance in its credit derivatives trading applications. Azul System’s Vega™ Series compute appliancesenable Java applications to achieve the fastest performance, highest reliability, and lowest latency execution, and can seamlessly scale applications across hundreds of processors without complex setup or management.

“After delving into the capabilities of the Azul platform, it became clear that the platform offered the best solution to reduce risk for our clients and provide long-term scalability to support our business objectives,” said Chuck Doerr, CTO of Creditex. “Azul offers a comprehensive solution that truly delivers higher efficiency and maximum performance value from Java-based trading applications.”

Since production deployment, Azul’s management tools, local support and the overall performance are effectively meeting Creditex’s client needs. Azul’s unique RealTime Performance Monitoring (RTPM) capability is designed to quickly pinpoint and repair system issues without having to restart or reboot the application, while avoiding end-user downtime. Added Doerr, “Not only is their technology solid, we have also been very pleased with the responsiveness and depth of the engineering support through the entire process.”

Selection Based on Unique Capabilities

Financial trading platforms, such as Creditex’s RealTime platform, are characterized by stringent response time requirements, multiple event logic processing, and the need to withstand fluctuations in transaction activity. Creditex wanted a hardware solution for their Java applications that could improve overall performance as well as support their rapidly growing number of users and transactions.

Creditex adopted Azul’s solution based on its unique ability to eliminate Java-related application pauses from a process known as “garbage collection”, as well as allowing applications to perform better through having access to a large memory footprint. Initially, Creditex ran Azul Compute Appliances in a pilot environment before switching over to production. In full production mode, the Azul system easily supported over 800 users, and is capable of scaling much higher without any code or infrastructure changes.

“Azul Systems has made long application pause times, poor throughput and inconsistent response times a thing of the past for Java applications,” said Scott Sellers, president and CEO of Azul Systems. “We are honored that a market leader like Creditex has deployed Azul in production, resulting in tangible improvements. This validates the power of our purpose-built solution for improving Java performance and scalability.”
