Azul Systems® Names Evan Ellis Senior Vice President, Worldwide Field Operations, and John Brennan Vice President of Hardware

Mountain View, Calif. – May 25, 2007– Azul Systems, the award-winning leader of enterprise server appliances for business-critical Java applications, today announced the appointments of Evan Ellis as senior vice president, worldwide field operations, and John Brennan as vice president of hardware. With 25 years of sales, marketing, and operations experience in the high-tech industry, Ellis will be responsible for Azul’s field operations around the world, including sales and customer support. With deep experience in advanced CPUs and multiprocessor systems, Brennan will lead Azul’s hardware engineering team as it focuses on the next generations of Azul’s network attached processing appliances.

“I am tremendously proud of the addition of Evan and John to the Azul executive team,” said Stephen DeWitt, president and CEO of Azul Systems. “Our business is expanding rapidly and our ability to attract this caliber of leadership reflects the extraordinary opportunity in front of the company.”

Evan Ellis has held executive-level positions with several leading IT companies. Most recently he was COO at Serena Software where he was responsible for all customer-facing activities including sales, marketing, professional services, and customer support. Prior to Serena, he was vice president, Americas sales at Brocade Communications, and before that president and COO at CyberSource Corporation during its early growth stage, which included successful initial and secondary pubic offerings. Ellis also held multiple executive positions with Silicon Graphics, including senior vice president, Americas field operations and senior vice president, marketing. He began his career at IBM where he held several sales and sales management positions prior to becoming assistant to the SVP, IBM US Operations. Ellis has a Bachelor of Science degree in economics from the University of California, Los Angeles.

“The pressure on enterprises to achieve greater business results through scalable high throughput Java computing will drive demand for Azul’s technology,” said Ellis. “We’re on the front lines, helping organizations acquire and deploy a solution that will fundamentally change how they design their data centers to achieve far greater operational efficiency and dramatically improved reliability in the face of unpredictable loads.”

Prior to joining Azul, John Brennan was the vice president of engineering for professional and embedded solutions at NVIDIA, leading the team that developed standalone graphics solutions for use in professional workstations. Prior to NVIDIA, Brennan was the vice president of engineering for Chelsio Communications where he led both the hardware and software development teams to develop a 10 gigabit Ethernet protocol offload product. Prior to Chelsio, Brennan was vice president of hardware engineering for Sun Microsystems where his midrange and high-end server product lines generated approximately $4 billion of annual revenue, representing around 25 percent of Sun’s revenue. Prior to Sun, Brennan spent more than 9 years at Silicon Graphics where he led the development of the Origin 3000 server product line – a distributed shared memory machine that scaled to 1024 CPUs – along with the R10000 and R8000 microprocessors. Brennan holds a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of California, Berkeley.

“Azul has developed the key technology that gives Java platforms the compute power and memory they need to run the business world’s most transaction-intensive applications,” said Brennan. “I look forward to helping push this technology to as yet unimagined levels while ensuring a high-quality, well-disciplined development lifecycle.”
