Azul Systems®, Inc. (Azul), the award-winning leader in Java runtime solutions, today announced that Zulu, its freely-available version of OpenJDK™, now supports both Java 6 and Java 7 on Linux and Windows-based deployments. Java developers, system administrators and end users now have a reliable, rigorously tested, and 100% open source compliant implementation of the Java Platform, Standard Edition (Java SE) for all their Linux, Windows and Cloud deployments.
Zulu now supports Red Hat Enterprise Linux, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, Ubuntu Desktop and Server, and CentOS Linux distributions, with support for additional distributions planned in the future based on community feedback. Azul previously announced the support of Zulu on Windows Azure, and today is announcing additional support for on-premise Windows deployments. Azul also announced expanded Java community support with the introduction of Zulu Community Forums. Azul’s forums are designed to be a high-value resource for Java programmers, DevOps personnel, product managers and people interested in extending the reach of other powerful open source technologies that depend upon either Java or the JVM.
Zulu forums will be moderated by Azul and community members, and content will range from deeply technical materials to industry news. Membership on the Zulu Community Forums is free, and the first 250 people to register will be able to choose either a Zulu launch T-shirt or a $10 Starbucks gift card*.
