The past week marked a defining moment for the Philippines’ digital transformation journey, as Hong Sin Kwek, Co-Founder and Strategist, and Mel Migriño 梅尔, President of the Philippines Chief Information Officer Association, spearheaded impactful discussions with the nation's top digital leaders.
A comprehensive report of 8th ASEAN CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER ASSOCIATION forum on key focus areas, including AI and Digital Transformation, Cybersecurity, and Sustainability in Green Technology, was presented to senior officials, such as USEC Jocelle Batapa-Sigue of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), USEC Jesus (Gary) S. Domingo from the Department of Foreign Affairs (OUCSCA), and USEC Alexander Ramos from the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center. These discussions served as a meaningful closure to the 8th ASEAN CIO Forum, while setting the stage for the RECALIBRATE Philippines 2025 initiative.
During these high-level exchanges, Hong Sin Kwek, known for her visionary strategies, emphasized the importance of collaboration between ACIOA and respective agencies, supported by PCIOA. By working together, we can unlock the full potential of AI, cybersecurity, and sustainable technology to drive ASEAN.”
Mel Migriño, a respected voice in cybersecurity leadership, provided actionable insights, outlining three key initiatives PCIOA will lead from January to September 2025:
🌳 Green Enterprise Certification, championed by Prof. Nophea Sasaki and supported by Jeremiah P., to establish sustainability benchmarks.
🔎 Cybersecurity Awareness and MDR Exercises, to strengthen the Philippines' cybersecurity resilience.
💡 AI Education and ASEAN Exchange Programs, fostering knowledge-sharing with countries like Thailand, Indonesia, and Singapore.

Adding to the momentum, Mylene Abiva, VP of the Women-in-Tech Chapter, showcased innovative advancements in Robotics and AI in the Philippines. She announced plans to lead regional collaborations, creating a stronger Women-in-Tech network across ASEAN.
The week also included exclusive sessions on AI Framework and Policy, led by USEC Jocelle Batapa-Sigue under the EUREKA program, where Hong Sin Kwek and Mel Migriño contributed their expertise during policy dialogues organized by the Analytics & Artificial Intelligence Association of the Philippines (AAP), chaired by President Michelle Alarcon.
This unified effort signals a promising trajectory for the Philippines, as ACIOA and PCIOA continue to lead the charge in shaping ASEAN’s sustainable, secure, and innovative digital landscape.
