Just re-watched our latest interview with George Gould from Azul, and one stat stopped me cold: 40% of enterprise Java applications are still locked on-premises. Why? Because traditional cloud migration means code rewrites, developer hunts for legacy apps, and massive risk for mission-critical systems. But here's what caught my attention: Azul's partnership with Payara is flipping this script entirely. George explained how their solution can take a JAR or WAR file and deploy it to Kubernetes in 15 seconds—literally one button, zero code changes. "I jokingly say our JVMs go to 11—it's a turbocharger you can apply," Gould told me. That "turbocharger" (Platform Prime) delivers 20-25% infrastructure cost reductions while actually improving performance. For DevOps teams drowning in YAML configurations and enterprises paralyzed by migration risk, this feels like a genuine breakthrough.
