📓 Register for Foojay Webinar: “Java’s Place in the AI Revolution” This first online Friends of OpenJDK (Foojay.io) Webinar will highlight Java's place in the AI Revolution, focusing on Exploring AI/ML Using Pure Java Tools. AI and Machine Learning (ML) are becoming essential in modern software development. For Java developers, there's no need to switch technology stacks. It's now possible to build, train, and deploy ML models using tools available directly within the Java ecosystem. This webinar focuses on practical predictive AI/ML approaches in pure Java. We’ll walk through key Java libraries, show how to structure and train models, and discuss how Java’s core strengths, ie, JVM performance, type safety, and enterprise integration, can be used to build scalable AI solutions. If you're a Java developer or architect interested in learning more about AI/ML with structured data, this session will show you how to do it efficiently using native Java tools. A few weeks ago we took a look at two innovative technologies that eliminate Java warmup in different ways: ➡️ The OpenJDK project CRaC (Coordinated Restore at Checkpoint), implemented in newer versions of Azul Zulu Builds of OpenJDK ➡️ ReadyNow, a production feature of Azul Platform Prime. In this blog post, we dive deeper into how ReadyNow can improve the speed of a Java application from the start of an application and reduce latency, offering you all the need-to-know insights. https://bit.ly/3G18GE9 #Java #DevOpsProductivity #ReadyNow #OpenJDK

Our CIO Trends Survey & Report is making waves! Check this out, "Azul Report Finds 83% of CIOs are Spending More on their Cloud Infrastructure and Applications than Anticipated, While Only 2% are Under Budget." from VM Blog. As you may know, despite budget overruns most CIOs aren’t cutting back—they’re doubling down! With cloud enabling AI, scalability, and business flexibility, 56% of IT leaders say their organizations are willing to invest even more. Instead of reversing course, companies are optimizing costs while continuing to expand their cloud footprint. Yesterday I visited the #Java #User #Group (#JUG) in #Vienna, #Austria 🇦🇹 (https://java.wien) to talk about #Garbage #Collection. And again the majority of the attendees did not set a specific #Garbage #Collector in their #production #environment. So most of the people I‘ve talked to during the last year do simply use the #default #Collector which is #G1 (#Garbage #First) and it seems to work for them. It’s interesting to see that there are always people that don’t know about the #JVM (#Java #Virtual #Machine) #Ergonomics which can choose a collector for you if you do not explicitly specify one. In case you have less than 1.8 GB and less then 2 CPU, the JVM will select #SerialGC which could be a problem for some applications. This can become a problem when you decrease the heap of your existing service from for example 2 GB down to 1.5GB and suddenly encounter strange hiccups at runtime that you did not saw with 2GB. Another fun thing I‘ve talked about is the #ParallelGC and how it changed over time. In the beginning the #old #generation was collected in the same way as in the #SerialGC which means with a single thread only but from #Java #Development #Kit 6 onwards there was now also a version that uses multiple threads in #parallel for the #major #Collection of the old generation. The former version was deprecated in the meantime and today we only have the parallel collection in the young and old generation which keeps the overall throughput high. We also went through features of the Azul #C4 (#Continuous #Concurrent #Compacting #Collector) like #QuickRelease which helps to free #physical memory to guarantee high allocation rates. This collector is part of #Azul #Zing, our #highperformance #JVM and it’s equivalent in #OpenJDK which is called #ZGC and which you can also find in #Azul #Zulu. It was a fantastic evening…BIG THANX to Dominik🚀 Dorn and his team of the JUG Vienna for organizing it 🙏🏻 Now it’s already time to leave Vienna because tomorrow I‘ll travel to #DevoxxGreece in #Athens…stay tuned 😁🤙🏻
